This song starts out with a really fun rhythm in the energetic and playful 7/8 time signature. It represents the meaning of life and the driving force behind the influence and passion that directs our lives. When trying to find the perfect title for it, I looked up the meaning of the words 'passion, power, and vitality' in the dictionary. I found the general meaning of these words to mean - 'A strong interest, passion or power giving continuance to life, present in all living things.' This definition perfectly describes the message I want to convey. The song is quite an advancement for me musically as it happens to be the first song ever on which I decided to branch out and use the human voice. It begins with a dramatic vocal singing along with a powerful section of cellos. As they slow to a pause, the piano and drums pick right up in a fun, energetic jaunt. First and second violins soon join, weaving in and out of the playful melody. Cello and bass also make an appearance, building to a finale accented with strong violins revealing a vibrant countermelody. In a rush of exhilaration with a build up of orchestra, the song finally comes to a dramatic, crashing end with an impressive cello run.
I can't pick a favorite song on the album. I've tried very hard to make each and every one a separate, and unique experience. After recording this song, it proved it's ability to live up to the standards of the album just as every other song has had to do. It's incredibly fun to play on the piano, and it's definitely one that I look forward to performing in concert.
Okay, time for a studio update - I am now working on the tracking for the last 2 songs on the album. One of them is the project's largest production, requiring a full blown symphony orchestra topping out at over 200 tracks. The album artwork is also now in the design stages and is coming together beautifully. On top of all this, Bryan and I are working very hard on a special surprise coming to KevinBluemel.com in just a matter of weeks. Stay tuned, this is an update you don't want to miss!
